چکیده

This performance evaluation compares a full annual simulation (2001) of Community Multi-scale Air Quality (CMAQ) (Version 4.4) covering the contiguous United States against monitoring data from four nationwide networks. This effort, which represents one of the most spatially and temporally comprehensive performance evaluations of the model, reveals that CMAQ varies considerably in its ability to simulate ambient air concentrations of critical gas and particulate matter species. Simulations of the peak 1and 8-h ozone (O3) concentrations during the ‘‘O3 season’’ (April–September, 2001) were relatively good (correlation (r) 1⁄4 0.68, 0.69; normalized mean bias (NMB) 1⁄4 4.0%, 8.1%; and normalized mean error (NME) 1⁄4 18.3%, 19.6%, respectively). The annual simulation of sulfate (SO4 ) was also good (0:77prp0:92, depending upon network) with relatively small error (25.0%pNMEp42.0%), though slightly negatively biased ( 2.0%pNMB p 10.0%). The quality of ammonium (NH4) simulations is similar to that of SO4 (0:56prp0:79; 4.0%pNMB p14.0%; 35.0%pNMEp63.0%). Simulations of nitrate (NO3 ), elemental carbon (EC) and organic carbon (OC) are relatively poor, as compared to the simulations of the other species. For NO3 , the simulation resulted in: 0:37prp0:62; 16.0%pNMBp4.0%; 80.0%pNMEp94.0%. For the carbon species, the r ranged from 0.35 (OC) to 0.47 (EC), with fairly large amounts of error (NME 1⁄4 68.0% for OC, 58.0% for EC) though small amounts of bias (NMB 1⁄4 6.0% for EC and 12% for OC). The quality of the PM2.5 simulations, like PM2.5 itself, represented a compilation of the quality of all of the simulated particulate species (0.51prp0.70, NMB 1⁄4 3.0% and 45.0%pNMEp46.0%). Evaluation of Artificial Intelligent Methods to Release Sediments from Reservoirs by Pressurized Flushing

Sedimentation in reservoirs is an important issue that should be considered for the reservoirs operation and useful life. In this study, application of the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) in prediction of the sediment release from the bottom outlet using semi-cylinder for different variables was evaluated. Dimensionless parameters such as dimens...

Statistical comparison of observed and CMAQ modeled daily sulfate levels

New statistical procedures to evaluate the Models-3/Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) using observed data are introduced. Certain space–time correlations are used to assess dynamic aspects of CMAQ and to compare the space–time structure of CMAQ to that of observations. Our analyses show that, overall, CMAQ matches the space– time correlation structure of observed sulfate concentrations we...

In-vitro study of Ketoprofen release from synthesized silica aerogels (as drug carriers) and evaluation of mathematical kinetic release models

Silica aerogels are porous and extremely lightweight nano-materials shows interesting properties. These materials, because of biocompatibility, non-harmful to the body and special physical characteristics such as large surface area and low density have great potential for use in a drug delivery system (DDS). The focus of this study is the evaluation of the effects of silica aerogels on improvin...
